“In The Moment: Summer In Maine” is the new show at First Light Gallery, downtown at the intersection of Main and High streets. The public is invited to meet Maine artist Leigh Osgood during the Gallery Walk Friday, July 30 as she exhibits new works with a summer theme.

Osgood works in soft pastels, playing with texture, building layers and letting the viewer experience the liveliness of multiple colors in the depths of the landscape. She exhibits several plein air pieces with the intent of capturing the call of the loons, the quiet lap of water or a nearby dragonfly.

Osgood currently is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in studio art at the University of Maine, Orono. Her work has been shown in numerous area shows. In 2007, she won first place in the pastel category in the Bangor Art Society show; and her painting “Arches” tied for second place in the Society’s 2009 Paint Bangor Day Event.

Osgood and other First Light Gallery artists will be on hand from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, and refreshments will be served. For more information, call 338-3626 or visit firstlightgallery.me.
