Douglas S. Parker, 59, died July 24, 2010, at his residence after a brief illness.

He was born Sept. 10, 1950, in Portland, a son of Lewis and Mary (Calder) Parker. He worked for Northeast Equipment, the Journal Press, Irving Oil and Waldo County Hospital. He held a master oil and gas license.

Doug loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them all, especially his grandchildren. Doug will be remembered for his great sense of humor and his warm smile.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers, Lloyd, Walter and Neil; and a sister, Carolyn Parker.

He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Theresa Parker, of Swanville; three sons, Jason Whitmore and family of Swanville, Joseph Whitmore and family of Readfield and Derak Whitmore and family of Pennsylvania; five grandchildren, Jason Jr., Mercedez, Damian, Cheyenne and Derak Jr.; two sisters, Janette Leighton of Belfast and Elizabeth Robinson and family of Bangor; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

A celebration of his life was held the morning of July 28 at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast, with the Rev. Storm Gould officiating.
