Come Boating!, Belfast’s community boating program, will host its 10th annual Rowing Regatta on Saturday, Aug. 21 in Belfast Harbor. There will be races for adults and youth, with awards given in various classes. Any type of rowed or paddled craft may participate.

The regatta will include a long course of approximately three nautical miles and several short courses. Come Boating!’s Belle Fast and Selkie will compete against Cornish gigs from other New England rowing organizations. Individuals with gig rowing experience may sign-up for a seat and will be placed on a team. Ocean shells, rowed skiffs, kayaks, canoes and other small craft are encouraged to participate in races in their class.

Registration for the regatta will be at 10 a.m. at Come Boating!’s boat shed near the public landing. The long-course races will begin at 11 a.m., followed by junior races and short courses. Awards will be presented at the conclusion of the day’s races.

Registration fees, which include treats, are $20 for adults and $5 for juniors (ages 13 to 18). All participants must wear life jackets.

The day will feature friendly competition, enjoyable viewing for spectators, and opportunities to learn about Come Boating!’s activities, which include regular community rows, competitive rowing, and community sailing, and private sailing lessons.
