James “Jim” Cook Jr., 57, died Aug. 6 at a Bangor hospital. He was born in Hartford, Conn., April 13, 1953, the son of James and Stephanie (Taradajna) Cook Sr.

His work included construction, raising pigs, milking cows, cleaning chicken barns and junking. He was an avid farmer and gardener. He loved spending time with his family and friends, having pig roasts and helping others. Jim was someone who always put others before himself. He will be missed by his many family and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents; his sister, Karen; and a brother, Paul Pombriante. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Marylou Cook; his sons, James Cook III and his partner Sarah, Jason Cook and his wife Jessica, and Justin Cook and his wife April, a grandson, James H. Cook IV; a granddaughter, Samantha; his siblings, Patricia Saunders and her husband Lewis of Connecticut, Sharlene Jones and her husband Rodney of Connecticut, Frank Cook and his wife Denise Corriview of West Virginia; nieces and nephews: John, Courtney and Addison Matthews, Aaron Harakaly, Kaly Jones and Tyler, Sarah and Carlie Provencher; and his extended family — all of the Hustus family; his special friends Henry and Beverly Hartley, Dick Stevens and Peter Roberts.

Friends are invited to call at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast from 9:30-11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 14 with services at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Grove Cemetery, Belfast. Online condolences may be offered to the family at ripostafh.com.
