Police are investigating two attempted break-ins at an East Side business and a burglary at a restaurant, all on Aug. 7.

At about 12:20 a.m. that day, according to Belfast Police Detective Bryan Cunningham, someone attempted to pry the back door open at J & L Trading Post on Route 1, but the individual was scared off when they heard a voice of someone staying at that location.

Later that day, at about 11 p.m., a person at the business heard someone trying to get in one of the windows, but the would-be burglar was again scared off when they discovered that there was someone at the location.

Also sometime on Saturday morning, the back door at China One, located on Starrett Drive, was pried open and cash was stolen from the restaurant. Cunningham declined to say how much money was missing.

A cell phone, pry bar and a black bag were found near a fence at J & L Trading Post and recovered by police. Cunningham said police believe the three incidents are related. The cases remain under investigation.
