Northport Music Theater’s Musical Theater Camp for children age 8 to 11 will present two performances of Disney’s “Mulan Jr.” Saturday, Aug. 21 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. The theater is on Route 1 between Lincolnville Beach and Belfast.

“Mulan Jr.” features music and lyrics by Jeanine Tesori, David Zippel, Stephen Schwartz, Matthew Wilder and Alexa Junge. The book has been adapted and additional lyrics written by Patricia Cotter, and the music was adapted and arranged with additional music and lyrics by Bryan Louiselle.

The NMT campers will travel back to the legendary, storytelling days of ancient China with an action-packed stage adaptation of “Mulan.” The Huns have invaded, and it is up to the misfit Mulan and her mischievous sidekick Mushu to save the Emperor. “Mulan Jr.” is a heartwarming celebration of culture, honor and a fighting spirit. The score includes favorites “Reflection,” “Honor to Us All” and “I’ll Make a Man Out of You.”

Camp is directed and choreographed by Abigail Norman and staged managed by Rebecca Stuart. Set and costume design is provided by Emily Widdoes with lighting design by Morgan Cates. Producing artistic director is Ruth Gelsinger.

The intimate Northport Music Theater seats 128 people and has a modified thrust stage with open seating. Tickets are $8, $5 for children younger than 10; cash or a check only at the door.
