On June 26 Philip R. and Susan Clark Black of Belfast were honored at an afternoon cocktail party to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. The party, given by their children and grandchildren, was held at Amore in Belfast.

Phil and Sue were married June 18, 1960, at the First Church in Belfast by the Rev. David Wigley. In 1963 they moved in with Sue’s mother on Northport Avenue, where they have resided ever since. Phil worked in the medical supply field for many years until his retirement in 1996. Sue has worked in special education for the last 30 years in the local school district.

They have three children, Duffy Black Woods and her husband, Tom, of Northport, Rusty Black and his wife, Beth, of Belmont and BJ Black Kent and her husband, Kevin, of Pennsylvania. They have been blessed with five grandchildren, Brandy Woods of Belmont and Brittany Woods of Westbrook: Kyle Black of Belmont; and Spencer and Parker Kent of Pennsylvania; as well as four great-grandchildren, Emily and Ethan Abbott and Jonathan and Kolton Black, all of Belmont.

Friends and family came from Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania to help the Blacks celebrate. There were also many of the original wedding party on hand to observe the event.
