Coastal Mountains Land Trust will host its second annual Run for the Hills race in Belfast on Saturday, Sept. 11. This dual-event will offer a 10-kilometer road race and a 5-kilometer fun run/walk.

Registration begins at 7 a.m. at Waterfall Arts on High Street in Belfast. The scenic route will pass three Land Trust preserves along the Passagassawakeag River and finish on the Belfast Footbridge.

The entry fee is $20 on or before Saturday, Sept. 4 or $25 after, including race day. Walkers and runners can also opt to collect sponsorships. Businesses, groups and families are urged to get teams together to participate, adding to the fun and competitive spirit of the walk. Prizes will be awarded for the individual and team that raise the most sponsor money overall, as well as the first man and woman and first finishers in each age category for the 10K.

This year’s Run for the Hills includes lead sponsor Bank of America, as well as additional support from Peg Worth of Town & Country Real Estate and Waldo County General Hospital. All net proceeds from the event will benefit the land trust’s land conservation work.
