School nurse Ellie Weaver has been busy putting together emergency buckets for classrooms at two Regional School Unit 20 schools.

These buckets are part of an emergency preparedness program at Troy Howard Middle School in Belfast and the Edna Drinkwater School in Northport, the two schools in the district that Weaver serves as school nurse.

Robert Veilleux of EBS in Belfast donated 40 five-gallon buckets and Poland Springs donated 40 cases of water.

The buckets, which will be placed in each classroom at the two schools, will be used as emergency commodes in the event of a lockdown or an evacuation situation, Weaver said.

In addition to water, the buckets also contain first aid kits, emergency response instructions, commode supplies and classroom rosters.

The buckets are part of an ongoing emergency response program at the schools.
