Two favorite bands will provide the tunes Saturday, Aug. 28 for a Rock the Spectrum! benefit at WaterWorks Restaurant & Pub, 7 Lindsey St. The Belfast-based Juke Rockets and the Vicky Andres Band will play from 7 to midnight.

Organizer Heather St. Clair of Rockland asked a couple of friends, Juke Rockets’ vocalist Lisa Daniello and Andres, if their bands would play for the evening, which also will include some raffles.

“They agreed to play this show for me for free. I appreciate their help so much,” she said.

The event will raise funds for a trip to Texas for St. Clair’s son Brian, one out of 50 autistic children chosen in this country to receive a medical grant to go to The Thoughtful House. The grants were given as part of Bright Eyes Project for families in financial need who night not be able to seek out these type of services.

“Though we were receiving this awesome, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, we still had to come up with the money for co-pays and travel costs, which is a lot of money for a single mom who goes to school full-time,” said St. Clair.

At the Thoughtful House, Brian will be seen by one of the leading doctors in the biomedical research of autism, Dr. Bryan Jepson, author of “Changing the Course of Autism.” St. Clair and her son will leave Sept. 12 and have two full days of appointments in Texas.

“We will have follow-up phone appointments over the next four months and then travel again one more time before our medical grant will then be up,” St. Clair said.

“Rock the Spectrum!” is a 21-and-older show with a $7 cover charge.
