The Midcoast was treated to its first full day of regular-season high school golf on a sweltering Tuesday afternoon with six local teams in action on the links. Four of the squads competed at the same venue.

Belfast and Medomak Valley were victorious in their matches over Rockland and Mount View of Thorndike, respectively, with both being played on the par-34 back nine holes at the Rockland Golf Course. The Tigers and Panthers both use RGC as their home venue.

Georges Valley, which also uses RGC as their home course, was on the road Tuesday, Aug. 31 against Wiscasset and the Buccaneers secured their second win of the season. Camden Hills also lost to host Lincoln Academy of Newcastle the same day.

The Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B division uses a nine-point system to determine team wins and losses, with each of the five individual matches determining one point each for the winning golfer. Four additional points are then awarded to the team that has the lowest overall stroke total from its top four golfers. Rockland, Medomak Valley, Belfast, Mount View and Camden Hills play under these guidelines.

Georges Valley, which participates in the Mountain Valley Conference, uses a seven-point system to determine team wins and losses in the same fashion as the KVAC, but awards only two points for the lowest overall team score from its top four golfers.

The following is a recap of results from the three local matches played Tuesday:
