Louise Smith, 60, of Lincolnville Beach, died peacefully at home Aug. 31, 2010, after a 10-year battle with breast cancer.

Ms. Smith was born and raised in North Adams, Mass., and was a graduate of Emmanuel College in Boston. She worked for eight years in the Massachusetts Statehouse, where she met her husband, Rich. They were married in Concord, Mass., in 1987. For more than nine years they resided in Christiansted, St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, where Louise enjoyed the blue Caribbean Sea and made lifelong friends. Most recently, Louise particularly enjoyed the past three years working at the law offices of Susan C. Thiem in Lincolnville.

Louise is survived by her husband; her parents, Clemens and Margaret Danylowitz of North Adams, Mass.; a sister, Shereen, and her husband, Peter, and son, Christopher, of Carmel, N.Y.; and three brothers, Thomas of Adams, Mass., Russell of Arizona and Edward of Florida.

A family memorial service will be held at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Concord, Mass., and will be conducted by the family’s close friend, the Rev. Anthony J. Creane.
