Midcoast high school soccer squads were busy all weekend with boys and girls teams in exciting early-season action.

On the boys side, unbeaten Camden Hills and Vinalhaven were among the winners on the field, while Islesboro, a coed team, also prevailed in its weekend contest.

On the girls side, undefeated Camden Hills also came through with a victory as did Medomak Valley, which earned its first win of the season.

Girls soccer

Medomak Valley 2, Oak Hill 1 … At Waldoboro Friday, the host Panthers (1-1) prevailed in a tightly-contested game by a one-goal margin. Alanna Vose and Maria Ennamorati both creased the net for the Panthers, while Abby Goulet scored the lone goal for the Raiders of Sabattus (1-2).

Amanda Hendrickson-Belloguet made 10 saves in net for Medomak Valley, while Darby Beaulieu turned away 11 shots in goal for Oak Hill. The hosts also outshot the visitors 15-12 on the afternoon.

Rangeley 2, Vinalhaven 0 … At Vinalhaven Saturday, the Vikings (0-2) could not salvage the second of their two weekend games with the visiting Lakers as they were shut out at home. Sandra Campbell scored with nine minutes remaining in the first half and added another goal with a minute gone by in the second half to account for the game’s only scores.

Goalie Alex Slivinsky made 13 saves for the Vikings, while Emily Carrier had seven saves for the Lakers. Rangeley doubled up Vinalhaven in shots 16-8, while the islanders held a 6-5 edge in corner kicks.

Rangeley 3, Vinalhaven 2 … At Vinalhaven Friday, the Vikings could not hold an early lead and fell to the visiting Lakers in the first game of their weekend set. Izza Drury had a goal and an assist for the Vikings, while Eliza Davidson also scored for the islanders.

Davidson headed in a pass from Drury to put the islanders up 1-0 early, while Rangeley tallied the next three goals with Allie Hammond scoring on a pair and Taylor Bean adding another. Drury scored the second goal for Vinalhaven unassisted, but the hosts could get no closer.

Slivinsky had 13 saves for Vinalhaven, while Carrier made seven stops for Rangeley. The Lakers outshot the Vikings 17-13, while both teams attempted four corner kicks.

Camden Hills 2, Gardiner 1 … At Rockport Friday, the host Windjammers (3-0) won their third game of the campaign with a hard-fought, one-goal victory over the Black Raiders.

Melanie Vangel scored both goals for the Windjammers, while Deanna Strong scored the lone goal for Winslow. Lindsay Bumbalo turned away five shots in net for the ‘Jammers, while Jennifer Day made 10 saves for Gardiner.

The hosts also outshot the visitors 12-6.

Boys soccer

Camden Hills 8, Gardiner 0 … At Gardiner Friday, the Windjammers (3-0) continued to score goals at a torrid pace and came up with a win over the host Tigers.

Yani Stancioff had a hat trick Friday for the ‘Jammers, while Malcolm Steele, Andrew Flanagan, Andy Stevick, Zach Nelson and Nick Murphy each had a goal for the visitors. Steele, Peter Vannorsdall, Sam Predham and Vinny Kwiatkowski each added assists in the win.

Camden Hills outshot Gardiner 20-1, with ‘Jammer goalie Ian Cushing making one save. Derek Dreschler also saw time in goal for the visitors. Kaleb Smith made 12 saves for Gardiner.

Vinalhaven 4, Rangeley 1 … At Vinalhaven Saturday, the Vikings (2-0) made it a two-game weekend sweep over the visiting Lakers and prevailed by three goals.

Steven Osgood converted a hat trick on the afternoon for Vinalhaven, while Dillon Ames tallied the fourth goal for the islanders. The Vikings attempted 24 shots and seven corner kicks, while Trey Warren made eight saves for the hosts.

Vinalhaven 3, Rangeley 0 … At Vinalhaven Friday, the Vikings blanked the visiting Lakers and secured their first win of the season.

Joey Reidy, Osgood and Willie Drury each creased the net for Vinalhaven, while Drury also assisted on Osgood’s goal. Vinalhaven took 22 shots and also attempted 10 corner kicks. Warren made six saves for the Islanders. Rangeley’s goalie made 14 saves and attempted six shots.

St. Dominic 2, Georges Valley 1 … At Auburn Saturday, the Buccaneers (0-2) ran into a tough Saints team and fell to the hosts by a single goal. Bryant Matthews scored the lone goal for the Buccaneers with 33:18 remaining in regulation to cut the lead to 2-1, but the visitors got no closer.

The Saints tallied a pair of first-half goals from Jackson Erickson on a pair of assists from Alex Parker to account for the scoring.

Tyler Gilson turned away nine shots in net for the Bucs, while Brian Mathieu made two saves for the Saints. The hosts outshot the visitors 12-7, while the visitors led 3-2 in corner kicks.

The Bucs appeared to have tied the game with 10 minutes left in the game, but the goal was nullified due to a handball penalty.

Oak Hill 3, Medomak Valley 0 … At Oak Hill Friday, the Panthers (0-2) fell to their hosts as Jamie Kidd led the Raiders with two goals. Kidd had a goal with 12 minutes remaining in the first half and another with 37 minutes remaining in the second. Dalton Burns also scored a goal for the Raiders.

Robbie Griffin made nine saves on 10 shots in goal for Medomak Valley, while Tyler Pelletier had 12 saves on 16 Panther shots. Each team attempted two corner kicks.

Winslow 4, Mount View 1 … At Thorndike Friday, the Mustangs fell by three goals to the visiting Black Raiders.

Alec Davis scored the lone goal for the Mustangs (1-2), while Finn Ducker scored a pair of goals for the unbeaten Black Raiders and Keith Cragon and Rodrigo Deleid each added one. Mustang goalie Chris Montminy had nine saves on 15 shots in net, while Black Raider goalie M. Michaud made three saves on seven shots for Winslow.

Ducker opened the scoring with a goal with 38:48 to go in the first half, while Cragon added to the mix with another goal at 26:41. Davis cut the lead in half with a goal with 18:15 remaining in the game, but Deleid and Ducker added a pair of insurance goals late in the game to hold off any chance for a Mustang rally.

Bangor Christian 11, Searsport 0 … At Bangor Friday, Brad Wilcox turned in a hat trick and an assist against the Vikings.

Zach Sirois had two goals and an assist for the Patriots, while Tyler Alexander also had two goals. Christopher Parent and Zach Palmeter had a goal and an assist each for the hosts, while Kyle Holmes and Tucker Rice also scored. Will Hutchinson made 10-of-26 saves for Searsport, while Alexander and Jay Bishop combined on a shutout in net for Bangor Christian.
