Beatrice M. (McLaughlin) Ford, 93, of Woburn, Mass., formerly of Farmington, died peacefully Sept. 19, 2010, in Reading, Mass.

She was born Oct. 10, 1916, in Starks, a daughter of Leon and Eleanor (Small) McLaughlin.

She was a nurse with the rank of lieutenant in the Army during World War II from 1944-1946. Shortly after serving in the Army, Beatrice married Eugene Ford Aug. 31, 1946.

She and her husband settled in Farmington, where they raised two children. She was a member of the Old South Congregational Church and was part of several community activities. After retirement, they spent time in Bourne, Mass., Largo and Clearwater, Fla. Beatrice enjoyed both playing the electronic organ and listening to organists. She was a flower gardening enthusiast and had a great love for animals. She was an avid reader and Red Sox fan.

Beatrice and her husband spent 49 inseparable years together. After her husband’s death, she lived in Belfast at Penobscot Shores and then moved to Woburn, Mass.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband and two sisters.

She is survived by her loving children, Eugene E. Ford Jr. and his longtime friend, Roger Chu, of Woburn, Mass., Jane E. Doak and her husband, Randy, of Belfast; her grandchildren, Matthew Doak and his wife, Amanda, of Hampden, Elissa Doak and her significant other, Herman Paul, of Waldo; and a great-granddaughter, Dana.

Graveside services were held Thursday, Sept. 23, at Grove Cemetery in Belfast. Arrangements are with Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, Belfast.
