Police have charged a Morrill woman with Class C theft following a months-long investigation into repeated reports of missing cash at a veterinary hospital.

Elizabeth L. Lesan, 26, was arrested Friday, Oct. 1, after Searsport Police Officer Eric Bonney completed his investigation into several reports of cash that was missing from the Searsport Veterinary Hospital.

Searsport Police Chief Dick LaHaye credited Bonney with perseverance in the case, which took 10 months to solve.

Bonney linked the thefts to Lesan after she was allegedly caught stealing money on a surveillance tape.

“She just reached right over the counter,” said LaHaye.

In total, LaHaye said Lesan stole an estimated $1,500 from the business.
