A 23-year-old Searsmont man faces a variety of criminal charges after he crashed a stolen pickup truck into a utility pole early Wednesday morning, Oct. 13, knocking out power.

Gabriel Piszcz was charged with operating under the influence, operating after suspension, violating a condition of release, theft by unauthorized use, and possession of drug paraphernalia, following the 3:30 a.m. crash, said Maine State Police Trooper Jeremiah Wesbrock.

The vehicle struck a utility pole, knocking out electrical power, Wesbrock noted. The vehicle, which was allegedly stolen from Piszcz’s neighbor, was destroyed in the crash, the trooper noted.

Piszcz was not hurt in the crash.

The Lincolnville Fire Department also responded to the crash, the trooper said.
