On Oct. 7, VillageSoup hosted a forum for the Belfast City Council candidates to air their platforms and speak on some of the pressing topics in city government today, including taxes, jobs and the use of the city’s surplus. Thanks to the work of Diane Wood of Bel-TV Channel 7, the event was broadcast live and will be rebroadcast a number of times in the weeks leading up to Election Day. Our thanks to all the candidates who participated and the members of the public who came to City Hall to listen and pose questions.

After a successful debut last year, VillageSoup will host live election night coverage of the local races in cooperation with BC-TV Channel 2 and Bel-TV. Last year’s broadcast featured up-to-the-moment results from the polls, interviews with candidates and voters and commentary from ace anchorman David Crabiel. The details of the 2010 broadcast, which will be aired on Bel-TV, will be forthcoming in the weeks ahead. We expect it will be even better this year. Stay tuned for more details or just tune in to Channel 7 on the evening of Nov. 2.
