Belfast Area Peewee Football’s Rams and Vikings played Oct. 14 under the lights at Belfast Area High School. The Rams forged a 12-0 win.

The Rams scored in the first quarter as Mitchell Philbrook rushed for 15 and 10 yards, quarterback Derrick Tyler for 15 yards. Tyler finished the drive with the 5-yard touchdown.

In the second quarter, Ram Christian Sukeforth totaled 30 yards on two carries and Shane Alley finished with a 10-yard score. Viking Gady Doolan ran for 25 yards and Devindale Reynolds 10 yards, but on the next play the Vikings fumbled with Ram Sukeforth recovering. Sukeforth returned the fumble 50 yards for a touchdown, which was called back due to a clipping penalty.

With less than a minute to go, Vikings Nolan Woods, Stanley Sturgis and Dean Grass moved the ball to the Rams’ 10-yard line, but the team was unable to score as time ran out. The last two quarters proved a defensive battle with both teams unable to score.

Due to inclement weather and a wet field, Oct. 16 games were moved to Oct. 17 at Troy Howard Middle School as the Vikings beat the Dolphins 30-6 and the Rams bested the Chiefs 16-6.

The Dolphins received the ball at their 40-yard line. Late in the quarter, the Dolphins fumble with Viking Grey Dinsmore recovering. Viking QB Nolan Woods passed to Tyler Bartlett to the 5-yard line. Bartlett moved the ball to the 2-yard, but was stopped by Dolphin Hayden Sheldon to end the quarter with no score.

The second quarter was played by the younger players. Vikings Grady Doolan had a 30-yard run and Dean Grass scored on a 25-yard run. The extra-point attempt by Devindale Reynolds was stopped by Patrick Curtis. Dolphin quarterback Eric Milton handed off to Curtis for 20 yards before being stopped by Doolan. On the next play, Vikings Logan Peaslee, Kolby Drake and Fletcher Marriner sacked the quarterback for a 5-yard loss and the fumble was recovered by Ellliott Anderson. On the next play, Viking Grass broke away for a 72-yard score. The extra-point attempt by Isaac Bernosky failed. Dolphin Eric Milton had a 20-yard kick return and Curtis bolted 10 yards before the team was stopped by Dakoda Payson and Brandon Bruns to end the quarter with the Vikings leading 12-0.

In the third quarter, the Vikings hit pay dirt again, with a hand off by quarterback Woods to Stanley for 15 yards then Skylar Perkins for the 15-yard touchdown. The extra-point attempt by Dakoda Doolan was stopped by Curtis. Dolphin receiver and quarterback Sheldon moved the ball 25 and 15 yards with Vikings Tyler Macleod and Nathan Hamm stopping him at the 20-yard line to keep the Vikings ahead 18-0.

In the fourth quarter. Dolphin Hayden Sheldon scored. The extra-point attempt by Curtis was stopped by Jacob Racioppi. Viking Grass returned a kick 50 yards to the 5-yard line, with Nick Salvatore scoring the touchdown. The extra-point attempt by Woods was stopped by Dolphin Philip Lyscott to give the Vikings a 24-6 lead. The Dolphins turned the ball over on downs to set up for the final score by the Vikings, with Jacob Racioppi running 60 yards for the touchdown. The extra-point attempt by Dinsmore failed.

The second game of the day saw the Rams win 16-6, as they scored in the first quarter with quarterback Shane Alley passing to Tyler Aldinger for a 25-yard score and the two-point conversion by Tristen Roberts for eight points.

The Chiefs answered in the second quarter with Tyler Ellsworth’s 40-yard score. The two-point conversion by Tyler Curtis failed.

It was late in the fourth quarter when the Rams hit paydirt as quarterback Josh Bucker handed off to Mitchell Philbrook for a 90-yard touchdown and the extra points by Tristen Roberts.

The Chiefs’ coaches said defensive players Edwin Johnson, Brody Sylvia, Travis Tran and Tyler Curtis helped keep the game close.
