Maxine M. Ellis, 82, of Cape Elizabeth died in Portland Oct. 25, 2010.

She was born in Brooks, the daughter of Sherman and Priscilla (Robbins) Murray, and was a graduate of Brooks High School in the class of 1946. She attended Boston University.

Maxine married Robert Ellis Sept. 13, 1951.

She worked in sales for Bernie’s Fashion in Portland for more than 20 years.

She was a member of the First Congregational Church in South Portland.

Mrs. Ellis was predeceased by her husband, Robert, and a brother, Paul.

Survivors include three children, Brent Ellis of Naples, Kent Ellis and his wife, Ellen, of Lafayette, Colo., and Roxanne England and her husband, Ted, of Gilbert, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Renee England, Charlette, Carolyn and Philip Ellis; a sister-in-law, Carol Murray; and many nieces, nephews and many loving friends and extended family members.

Visiting hours will be held 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, at the Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Road, South Portland. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 29, at the First Congregational Church in South Portland. Interment will be private at Riverside Cemetery in Cape Elizabeth.
