Last week saw the final games of the Belfast Area Peewee Football season.

On Oct. 22 under the lights at Belfast Area High School, the Dolphins beat the Chiefs 24-14, while on Oct. 24, the Vikings bested the Rams 14-0 and the Dolphins upended the Chiefs 20-6 in the last game of the year.

On Sunday, the Dolphins opened early in the first quarter when quarterback Hayden Sheldon scored on a 35-yard touchdown run. Dylan Colby added the extra points to contribute to the Dolphins’ early lead.

In the third quarter, the Chiefs responded when Gerard Coward made a 55-yard run after a Tyler Ellsworth handoff. Sheldon also ran 40 yards for the Dolphins on a keeper as the quarter ended.

The final score came in the fourth quarter with a pass from Sheldon to Patrick Curtis for a 30-yard touchdown.

Also on Sunday, the Vikings beat the Rams 14-0.

Stanley Sturgis nearly had the first score of the game in the first quarter thanks to a pass from Nolan Woods. However, Ram Mitchell Philbrook had other ideas and thwarted Sturgis’ efforts at the 20-yard line.

In the second quarter, the Vikings kicked off and Rams received at their 45-yard line but fumbled and Viking Grey Dinsmore recovered the ball. The recovery set up the first score of the game on a 55-yard run by Dean Grass.

Soon after, Viking defensemen Tyler Macleod, Jacob Waterman, Nathan Hamm, Jacob Racioppi, Grey Dinsmore and Koby Drake stopped the Rams from making a first down and they had to turn the ball over at their 45-yard line.

Grass then gained 20 yards only to be stopped by Rams Shane Alley and Christian Sukeforth. In the next play, Grady Doolan ran for a 35-yard touchdown, with the extra points by Isaac Bernosky.

Late in the second quarter, Viking Andrew Ankles, Grass, Doolan and Devindale Reynolds moved the ball to the 1-yard line to prepare for another score. However, Ram defenders Philbrook, Derrick Tyler, Shane Alley and Sukeforth halted their efforts.

The Rams kept their tight defense late in the fourth quarter as Derrick Tyler sacked Viking Woods. Sturgis later broke away for 25 yards and Skylar Perkins for 10, but the Rams defense shut the Vikings down before they could score again.

On Friday, the Dolphins and Chiefs took to the gridiron as the Dolphins beat their rivals 24-14.

In the first quarter, Dolphin quarterback Sheldon ran for a 50-yard touchdown to open the contest. Late in the quarter, Sheldon scored again with a 40-yard breakaway.
