Young karate students succeed in tourney

Sawyer Carson, 7, and Morgan Ireland, 9, participated in the Manchester School of Tae Kwon Do’s annual tournament Oct. 16. Both youngsters are members of the Waldo County YMCA School of Tae Kwon Do.

Ireland earned a first-place trophy for sparring and second-place trophy for forms. Carson earned third-place trophies for both forms and sparring. Ireland attends school in Searsport and Carson attends Captain Albert Stevens School in Belfast.
