Police are investigating a one-car accident that took place Saturday afternoon, Nov. 6, and are specifically interested in knowing the identity of the driver.

Waldo County Chief Deputy Bob Keating said the crash occurred at about 3:30 p.m. on East Waldo Road.

Keating said when officers arrived at the scene it appeared that the driver of the vehicle had gone off the left side of the road and struck a rock, sending the vehicle end-over-end until it came to rest at a utility pole. The utility pole broke off as a result of the impact, Keating said.

Keating said the owner of the vehicle was at the scene, but stated to police that she did not know who was driving her car at the time of the accident.

No one appeared to have been hurt as a result of the accident, Keating said.

Central Maine Power crews responded to the scene to assess the damage to the pole and to repair it.

Deputies Ben Seekins and Kevin Littlefield are investigating the crash this week, Keating said.
