Dwaine D. Fairfield, 67, died Nov. 7, 2010, at Anderson Inn in Camden.

Born in Stafford Springs, Conn., Oct. 18, 1943, he was a son of Hugh D. and Ethel May (Robertson) Fairfield and grew up on Islesboro. He served in the U.S. military during the 1960s. For many years, Dwaine worked as a painting contractor, owning his own business until he retired. He also enjoyed woodworking and built furniture for family and friends. He had an extensive coin collection and did puzzles in his spare time. He was truly an “island” man, and you could set your clock by his daily routine.

Surviving are two children, Ronald Fairfield and Crystal Fairfield, both of Islesboro; a sister, Gwendolyn Gallant, of Belfast; a grandson, Joseph D. Gallant, of Islesboro; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents.

In keeping with his wishes, there will be no public services. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Kno-Wal-Lin Hospice, 169 Pleasant St., Rockland, ME 04841.
