A Freedom woman and her 17-year-old passenger sustained abrasions and other minor injuries after they were involved in a one-vehicle rollover Wednesday morning, Nov. 17.

According to the accident report at the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office, Tasha M. Vigneault, 24, of Freedom was headed south on Bear Trap Highway in her 1999 Pontiac at about 5:20 a.m. when she spotted an animal on the right side of the road.

Vigneault swerved to the opposite lane to avoid hitting the animal, and then she over-corrected. Vigneault crossed back into her travel lane and then left the road, striking a rock. The impact from hitting the rock caused the vehicle to roll over and overturn, causing $6,500 worth of damage to the vehicle.

Brooks Ambulance personnel responded to the scene to treat Vigneault and her juvenile passenger, as Vigneault complained of pain and her passenger suffered abrasions and bruises.

Lt. Jason Trundy said neither Vigneault nor her passenger had serious injuries.

According to the accident report, Vigneault and her passenger were both wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
