Lincolnville Police Chief Ron Young reported that there have been three residential burglaries, and one more attempted burglary, during the past few weeks in Lincolnville.

At one Belfast Road home, $400 to $500 worth of items were stolen. Another Belfast Road home was robbed of $300 to $400 in cash.

Another burglary took place sometime between 6:15 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Greenacre Road. The thief or thieves stole firearms and jewelry, despite the presence of dogs in the home. The thief also remembered to close the gate upon his or her departure to ensure that the dogs would not escape from the yard, Young said.

Three days ago, another robbery attempt was made at a different home on Greenacre Road. This time, the homeowner returned from work and noticed tire tracks in the driveway. Evidence indicated that thieves attempted unsuccessfully to open a garage door, which was locked from the inside, as well as a side entrance door to the house.

No entrance was made to the house. The homeowner’s dog, a Rottweiler mix, was inside.

All the burglaries occurred between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., when residents were at work.

“I think they are knocking on doors and going in,” he said.

Young said no arrests had been made yet.

“I have persons of interest,” he said.
