With the Busline League Division I boys and girls basketball teams starting their respective seasons Monday, Nov. 22, the Division II seventh-grade hoop campaigns continue to press on with a handful of games in recent days.

Boys basketball

At Hope Saturday, Vinalhaven pulled out a 49-30 win over the Hawks. Vinalhaven led 14-6, 34-16 and 45-24 at the quarter breaks.

Noah Slivinsky netted 12 points for the islanders, while Austin Christensen added 11; Ben Beckman, eight; Lucas Jones, six; Ian Dyer and Colton Watt, both four; and Drew Warren and Everett Webster, both two.

For Hope, Nathan Soule and Casey Rouleau each netted 10 points, while Matt Young added five; Julian Starbird, four; and Wade Reynolds, one.

At Appleton Friday, visiting Vinalhaven proved too much for the host Wildcats as the islanders prevailed 52-35. The Vikings led 15-0, 24-13 and 38-25 at the quarter breaks.

Christensen poured in 23 points to lead the islanders, while Beckman added six; Slivinsky, Dyer, Doug Day and Webster, all four; and Jones, two.

For Appleton, Austin Egan tossed in nine points, while Cam LaFleche added eight; Owen Hilt, six; Wyatt Summers, four; Morgan Ford and Jack Moody, both two; and Nick Cammelieri, one.

The same day in Hope, the host Hawks downed Islesboro 36-10, as Bill Bracher tallied 15 points, Rouleau, 10; Young, four; Starbird, three; and Soule and Max Pushaw, both two.

For Islesboro, Curtis Hall scored six points and Ian Davis, John Gotham and Nick Day all two. Other players for the Eagles are Jake Pellagrino, Sage Kelly, Jacob Howell, Ian Davis, Devin Small and Brendon Chalmers.

The islanders trailed 21-2 after one quarter and could never get back into the game.

Girls basketball

At Appleton, the host Wildcats held off visiting Vinalhaven and came away with a 34-29 win. Appleton led 10-6, 20-16 and 26-25 at the breaks.

Rachel Pease led the Wildcats with 16 points, while Katie Moody added six; Kristen Kiernan and Brianna Flynn, both four; and Makayla Maxwell and Ashley Burr, each two.

For Vinalhaven, Ashley Oakes netted 10 points, while Taylor Littlefield added six; Sarah James, five; Virginia Wadleigh, four; and Andrea Shane, two.

In Hope the same day, the Hawks hosted the Eagles of Islesboro, with the results unavailable. Islesboro, led by coach Krysti Hall, include Kayla Pendleton, Hanna Wood-Krusell, Melissa Cushman, Jazmyne Schoppe, Kathryn Snyder, Amy Cushman and Callie Cook.
