Mount View’s Hayleigh Kein has been one of the area’s top field hockey players the past four years. Now, as a senior, the talented Mustang will vie with three other stick-wielding student-athletes for the state’s top individual honor in the sport.
Kein, along with Scarborough’s Kristen Felt, York’s Hannah Keating and Gardiner’s Becca Paradee, are among the four finalists to be honored with the Miss Maine Field Hockey Award, given annually to the top senior field hockey player in the state.
Kein was the Mustangs’ top player this fall, scoring five goals and adding seven assists as the team wrapped up the top overall seed in Eastern Class B with a 12-1 record. Mount View advanced to the regional championship before falling to eventual state champion Nokomis of Newport.
The award will be presented at the annual Maine Field Hockey Association banquet Sunday, Dec. 5 at the Augusta Civic Center.
