Jill Betz of Betz Family Chiropractic recently attended an advanced health seminar in Boston on how positive lifestyle changes can impact a patient’s health. The seminar covered the importance of specific lifestyle changes in improving chronic health problems.

According to the Journal of the American Medical Association 1996, “Smokers who are moderately physically fit but have high cholesterol and high blood pressure live longer than non smokers who are healthy but sedentary.”

“This study does not mean smoking is good for us, it means that a sedentary lifestyle is worse than smoking and that regular exercise is an essential part of achieving and/or maintaining good health,” she said. “In a country where heart disease, obesity and Type II diabetes are on the rise in both adults and children, we need to stop waiting for the ‘wonder pill’ and start taking positive steps in caring for ourselves and our families.”

The seminar included the latest information on the underlying causes of the most common diseases and health problems including obesity, sarcopenia, atherosclerosis, Type II diabetes, osteo- and rheumatoid arthritis, and inflammatory bowel disease.
