Residents will vote on whether to have the first professional re-evaluation of the town.

Three selectmen’s positions are open and will be staggered so all selectmen are not replaced in the same year. Wilson Hess is running unopposed for a three-year term. Steve Bennett and Carol Richardson are competing for a two-year term, and Steve Cross and Tim Biggs are competing for a one-year term. Cindy Abbott is running unopposed for each position of town clerk, tax collector, excise tax collector and registrar of voters. Lynn Hadyniak and Brian Jones are running for a seat on the school board.

Warrant: This interim annual town meeting will cover the budget period from Feb. 1 to June 30. The town voted to adopt a fiscal year of July 1 to June 30 beginning this year. A second meeting will be held at 7 p.m. June 20.

Warrant:Selectmen George Mendel and Carrie Peavey will be running for reelection. Bill Terry will not. It is possible the road commissioner position may be separated out from the selectman position. Funds for a townwide reevaluation is a new warrant article. The town will also be voting on funds to upgrade computers at the town office, a septic system for the fire station, landscaping for the new town office, and a well for the town garage.

Warrant: Roger Roberts, 20-year selectman, said residents will be asked to vote for selectmen in staggered terms. One will be chosen for a one-year term, one will be chosen for a two-year term and one will be chosen for a three-year term. First Selectman Roberts said he plans to run again, and he believes second selectman Mark Sheldon and third selectman Keith Thompson will as well. Roberts said officials are trying to keep the total amount of expenditures close to what it was last year. Lunch will be available at meeting.

Charelle Cullivan and Sheila McCarty are running for town clerk. There are also two openings for assessor and one for road commissioner.

Warrant: Norman Boynton said some property was wrongly designated in the shoreland zone and voters can change it to limited residential. Boynton said the budget is higher than last year due to rising costs. Running for re-election: Charles Boynton as selectman, Damian Moody as fire chief, and Elwin Boynton as road commissioner. Arline Staples is running for a seat on the school board. The combined town clerk/treasurer/tax collector position has four contenders: Mary Lou Griffin, Patricia Richards, Shannon McDermott and Angela Pickoski.

Positions to be voted on are: Second Selectman, Assessor, Fire Chief, Library Board of Trustees (2 seats), Planning Board (2 seats), Planning Board Town of Appeals (2 seats), Assessment Review Board of Appeals (3 seats), Cemetery Committee (2 seats), and Sexton and Emergency Management Director.
Other: Selectmen will present the budget at a special meeting Thursday, Feb. 24. Selectmen will announce a “no increase” budget. The dollar amount will remain the same, but line items will be reduced.

Warrant:New articles to name streets will be on the agenda, as will an article to separate the finance director position from the town manager position.
Candidates:Two seats on the Searsport Board of Selectmen are open. Bruce Mills will not be running for re-election. Incumbent Carol Hersom is seeking re-election. Three other residents are also running: Jeff Frazier, Jim Cunningham and Richard Desmarais. The two candidates who tally the most votes will win the seats. Voters will also elect two people to the SAD 56 School Board. Glenn McFadden is running for re-election and incumbent John Moran is running as a write-in candidate.

Residents will also vote on a Comprehensive Plan for Troy. A public meeting on the Comprehensive Plan is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24 at the B.B. Clubhouse. Candidates running for re-election: Frederica Fuller, Selectwoman; Janet Cropley, town clerk; Sharon Moody: excise tax and property tax collector, treasurer. Steven Piper did not file his papers on time, but will seek re-election as a Town Forest Trustee Commissioner as a write-in candidate.

Warrant: An open breakfast meeting will be held at 8:30 a.m. at the Community Building. The first selectman position is open. Incumbent Kathy Littlefield, 32-year selectperson, said if she is nominated she will run. Treasurer, town clerk, excise tax collector, constable, fire chief and road commissioner slots are all open. Littlefield said residents will be asked whether to spend money for a property re-evaluation.
