Katherine “Bunny” Golembeske, 84, died peacefully after a long decline Nov. 28, 2010.

The daughter of Helen (Wilson) Pendleton and Mark Pendleton, she was born in York, Pa., Dec. 18, 1925.

She graduated from Mount Holyoke College in 1948 and worked briefly at the Kettering Foundation studying the “green energy” of chlorophyll. She married George Phelan in 1950 and they made their home in New York state until his death in 1969. She later married Anthony Golembeske and they became year-round residents of Islesboro in 1980. They also maintained a home at the Penobscot Shores Retirement Community in Belfast for many years.

Kathy was an avid bridge player and a devoted Baptist Church Sewing Circle member, where she knitted numerous sweaters and manned the white elephant table each year. She was a member of the Islesboro Historical Society, and a board member and volunteer at the Alice L Pendleton Library.

She is survived by two daughters, Sarah Hudak and her husband, Joseph, and Carrie Thomas and her husband, William; a granddaughter, daughter Alaina; a sister-in-law, Joanne Pendleton; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by Anthony Golembeske and a brother, Mark Pendleton Jr.
