Mother Nature, with all her pre-winter fury, has put a crimp in the styles of Midcoast school athletic events scheduled for Monday, Dec. 6. Snow has been flying most of the day in the area and does not look to let up soon.

All Busline League middle school basketball games scheduled for Monday have been postponed, with some being moved to Tuesday, Dec. 7.

For the Busline League large school division, seventh- and eighth-grade basketball games that were to be held Monday, Dec. 6 were: Wiscasset Middle School at Camden-Rockport Middle School, Rockland District Middle School at Troy Howard Middle School in Belfast and Boothbay Elementary School at Medomak Middle School in girls play, as well as Camden-Rockport at Wiscasset, Troy Howard at Rockland and Medomak at Boothbay in boys action.

Camden-Rockport is scheduled to play Searsport in seventh-grade games Tuesday, so the Schooner games from Monday may be moved to a later date.

The Busline League small school division was suppose to begin their playoffs on Monday, Dec. 6, but those games probably will be pushed to Tuesday, Dec. 7.

On Dec. 6, in girls playoff action, No. 10 South Bristol was to be at No. 7 Islesboro and No. 9 Woolwich was to play at No. 8 Hope. In boys action the same day, No. 9 GSB was to be at No. 8 Bristol.

So, with Monday’s inclement weather, the small schools will begin their single-elimination playoffs Tuesday, Dec. 7, continue Wednesday, Dec. 8 and Friday, Dec. 10 before the championship games will be Tuesday, Dec. 14 at Lincolnville Central School.

In high school play scheduled for Monday, Dec. 6, the Vinalhaven boys and Searsport girls were to play preseason scrimmages at Georges Valley High School, but those games were canceled.
