A vehicle that was reported stolen over the weekend of Dec. 5 was recovered Wednesday morning, Dec. 8, in the parking lot of the Verona Town Office.

Lt. Jason Trundy of the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office said the white 2002 Suzuki XL-7, bearing Maine registration plates 862 ACN, was discovered when a town employee noticed the vehicle sitting in the lot.

Trundy said it appeared the vehicle had been sitting there for at least a day.

“Somebody had to plow around it,” he said, noting that the vehicle was surrounded by snow.

Trundy said the vehicle did not appear to be damaged.

The vehicle theft was reported to the sheriff’s office Sunday, Dec. 5, when a Blanket Lane resident called at about 7 a.m. to report that the car was not sitting in the driveway. The complainant had parked the vehicle in the driveway at their home the night before.

Police are still investigating the case, as it is unknown who took the vehicle.

Anyone with information about the vehicle theft is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 338-2040.
