Both the Georges Valley and Searsport boys basketball squads have gotten off to tough starts in their first two games of the season in Class C, as each team remains in search of their first wins.

The Buccaneers (0-2) dropped a pair of contests to visiting Wiscasset Monday and host St. Dominic of Lewiston Dec. 10, while the Vikings (0-2) have had no luck away from their home gym in road losses at George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill Monday and Stearns of Millinocket Dec. 11.

Wiscasset 63, Georges Valley 47 … At Wiscasset Monday, the Buccaneers squandered a first-half lead for the second straight game as the Redskins rallied for the victory. Georges Valley led 11-6 after the first eight minutes and 23-19 at halftime, while Wiscasset took a 37-32 edge after three quarters.

Ben Wallace led the Bucs with 14 points, while Alex Wallace added 11; Dylan Maloney, nine; Dustin Lavoie, six; Drew Townsend, five; and Tyler Gilson, two.

For the Redskins, Ashton Benn netted 18 points, while Devon Grover added 11 and Mason Brewer nine.

The Bucs were 21-of-30 (70 percent) from the charity stripe, while the Redskins were 16-of-26 (61 percent).

George Stevens Academy 61, Searsport 43 … At Blue Hill Monday, the Vikings could not find an answer for the high-flying Eagles and dropped their second game of the season. Searsport trailed 14-7, 25-20 and 42-30 at the quarter breaks.

Rocky Faunce poured in 21 points to lead the Vikings, while Milton Jones and Shane Seekins each added seven; Buddy Ellis, five; Ben Bucklin, two; and Allen Connor, one.

For the Eagles. Nick Kane led the way with a 17-point effort.

St. Dominic 43, Georges Valley 38 … At Lewiston Dec. 10, the Bucs could not hold on against the Saints and fell by a five-point margin. The Bucs led 18-17 after the first quarter and 28-27 at halftime, but fell behind 34-30 after three quarters.

Alex Wallace keyed Georges Valley with 12 points, while Gilson and Maloney each added eight and Ben Wallace and Lavoie both five.

Kurt Johnson netted 16 points for the Saints, while Jake Sicotte added 11.

St. Dominic was 3-of-4 (75 percent) from the foul line, while Georges Valley netted 3-of-10 (30 percent).
