While the Islesboro boys basketball team continues to soar in Western Class D, the Georges Valley boys still look for their first victory in Western Class C following Thursday games.

The Eagles are undefeated through four games and kept the ball rolling in their first home game Thursday with a convincing 87-54 win over Valley of Bingham, while the Buccaneers remained winless after a 59-50 loss at Madison.

Islesboro has averaged 76 points in its first four contests against North Haven (twice), Hyde School of Bath and Valley. Georges Valley has been competitive in their losses to St. Dominic of Lewiston, Wiscasset and Madison, but have not been able to get into the win column.

Islesboro 87, Valley 24 … At Islesboro, the host Eagles (4-0) continued to soar above their opponents as they convincingly prevailed over the visiting Cavaliers in their first home game of the season. Islesboro led 27-8, 51-14 and 74-18 at the quarter breaks.

Gerard Scherr poured in 26 points, while adding 10 rebounds and six steals, to lead the Eagles. Also contributing to the offense were D.J. Johnson (16 points, 7 rebounds, 11 assists), Jason Hatch (24 points, 6 rebounds) Max Mahan (13 points, 6 rebounds). Will Schoope (2 points) and Cameron Jack (2 points).

For the Cavaliers, Sam Mathied (6 points), Carrington Miller (5 points), Teagan Staples (4 points), Seth Malloe (3 points), Seth Stevens (2 points), Stephen Jackson (2 points) and Devon Gillespie (2 points) were keys offensively.

Madison 59, Georges Valley 50 … At Madison, the Buccaneers (0-3) stayed within striking distance but could not tame the Bulldogs and fell by nine points. Madison led 18-13, 27-19 and 39-31 at the quarter breaks.

Dylan Maloney led the GVHS charge with 13 points, while Ben Wallace added nine; Tyler Gilson and Alex Wallace, both seven; Dustin Lavoie, six; Drew Townsend, four; and Gordon Armstrong, two.

For the Bulldogs, Ian Hardigan scored 18 points, while Cody Briggs added 15 and Anthony Citriano 12.

The Bucs were 11-of-21 (52 percent) from the charity stripe, while the Bulldogs were 17-of-25 (68 percent).
