One driver was transported to the hospital after a two-car accident on Thorndike Road Wednesday morning, Dec. 15.

According to the accident report at the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office, 45-year-old Kellie Riavez of Freedom was headed south in her 2000 Pontiac just after 9 a.m. when she lost control because of poor road conditions.

Riavez crossed into the opposite lane just as 34-year-old Jennifer O. Edmondson of Unity was approaching in a 2010 Toyota pickup. The two vehicles hit head-on.

Edmondson’s vehicle continued, running into two guardrails before coming to rest. Riavez’s vehicle slid off the roadway.

Unity Volunteer Ambulance personnel responded to the scene and transported Riavez to the hospital, as she was complaining of pain in several areas of her body, including her chest. Edmondson was not injured in the accident.

Both vehicles sustained about $3,000 worth of damage.
