Winona “Nonie” (Canty) Reed of Frankfort and Southwest Harbor, died Dec. 20, 2010, at her daughter’s home in Southwest Harbor. She was born Aug. 17, 1923, in Lowell, Mass., the daughter of Patrick Russell and Winona (Ferguson) Canty.

She was a loving wife and mother.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Harold, in 1991, and looked forward to being with him once again.

She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Smith and her husband, Torn, of Dayton, Texas, Mary Ellen Martel and her husband, Jack, of Southwest Harbor, and Patricia Hutchins and her husband, Rick, of Barre, Vt. She is also survived by her grandchildren, David Fougere, Kimberly Kelley, Theresa Aldy, Jennifer Martel, and Adam Hutchins; her great-grandchildren, Joseph, Christina and James Fougere, Courtney Hernandez, Elizabeth and Catherine Kelley, and Cory Brogan; her great-great-grandchildren, Braden and Michael Hernandez; and a very dear friend, Bonnie Veinote.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her parents and her four siblings Ruby, Jack, Russell, and Beatrice.

Graveside services and a celebration of Nonie’s life will be held in the spring.
