The Rockland, Belfast and Mount View of Thorndike girls jayvee basketball squads have been busy in recent days, including playing each in two recent games.

On Dec. 17, Belfast outlasted the host Rockland 39-31, as the Lions led 9-7, 18-16 and 28-18 at the quarter breaks.

Leading Belfast were Ashley Littlefield with eight points; Kaycee Fogg, seven; Maddy Cummings six; Crystal Lilley and Emily Blood, four; and Alli Dellamattera, Hannah Bailey, Paige Profitt and Sam Moores, all two.

For Rockland, Kim Young tallied 14 points; Danessa MacDonald, seven; Casey Carroll, six; and Hannah Lacasse and Ashley Malmstrom, both two.

“I was very proud of the girls hanging in the game as long as they did and they even got within six points late in the game,” said Rockland coach Christine Clayton. “The Rockland girls were very tired considering we only had one sub for the entire game compared to Belfast’s nine subs. We just couldn’t keep up with those numbers. Belfast had fresh legs the whole game. Yet, the young Tiger team came out hard right from the very beginning.”

On Dec. 23, Mount View edged Belfast 44-42 in overtime. For the Mustangs, Clifford and Gilley both netted eight points; Leavitt, seven; Grotton and Morse, both five; Higgins, Stilkey, Hughes, Carleton and Morse, all two; and Leadbetter, one. Mount View netted 6-of-17 free throws (36 percent).

For Belfast, Maddy Cummings scored 11 points; Ashley Littlefield and Hannah Bailey, both seven; Crystal Lilley, five; Kasey Doolan, three; Kali Doolan, Alli Dellamattera, Kaycee Fogg and Brianna Flagg, all two; and Killian Richards, one. The Lions connectedon 18-of-30 free throws (60 percent).

On Dec. 21, Nokomis of Newport beat Belfast 64-18. For the Lions, Devon Drake and Emily Blood both had four points; Maddy Cummings, Kaycee Doolan, Killian Richards and Hannah Bailey, all two; and Crystal Lilley and Brianna Flagg, both one.

For the Warriors, Kelsie Richards netted 10 points; Lindsay Whitney, nine; Kelsy Kerstetter, eight; Taylor Lovley, seven; Kylie Richards and Taylor Shaw, both six; and Taylor Quick, four; Ashley Griffith and Lacey Kent-Webber, both three; and Danielle George, Brittany Dunton, Anna Mackenzie and Ashley Young, all two.
