With the Busline League large school basketball regular season nearly in the books, Medomak Middle School and Troy Howard Middle School took the court Wednesday for four games to wrap up their respective regular seasons.

The results were optimal for the four Riverhawk squads, as they posted victories over the Lions. The seventh- and eighth-grade boys defeated the Lions in Belfast, while the seventh- and eighth-grade girls posted victories in Waldoboro.

The regular season was set to wrap up Thursday, Jan. 6, with the postseason scheduled to begin Monday.

At Belfast, the Medomak Middle School eighth graders defeated host Troy Howard 45-37. The Lions led 18-15 at the half, while the Riverhawks took a 30-27 lead after three quarters.

Micah Williamson poured in 26 points to lead MMS, while Jamie Temple added eight; Noah Beck, six; Makale Willis and Jared Mank, both two; and Glenn Weeks, one.

For Troy Howard, Matt Smith netted eight points, while Austin Sprague added seven; Levi Lapham and Tyler Laplant, both six; Zavier Roman and Aiden Ripley, both four, and Adam Littlefield, two.

Also at Belfast, the Medomak Middle School seventh graders posted a 45-30 victory over host Troy Howard Middle School. The Riverhawks led 8-4, 17-10 and 33-20 at the quarter breaks.

Zach Starr netted 14 points to lead MMS, while Nick DePatsy added 12; Sheldon Laveway, six; Cortland Sisher, five; Owen Gilbert, Gavin Black and Riley McCollett, all two; and Ollie Brown and Jackson Vail, both one.

For the Lions, Drew Nealy and Gage Corson each dropped in six points, while Zach Darres and Andrew Flagg each added five; Alex Fritz, four; Ben Robinson, two; and Brian Lowe and Billy Pantoja, each one.


At Waldoboro, the Medomak Middle School eighth graders defeated Troy Howard Middle School 50-6. The Riverhawks led 20-0, 32-2 and 46-6 at the quarter breaks.

Hannah Heald keyed MMS with 14 points, while Justice Barrows added 12; Maggie Cox, eight; Sophie Cohen, six; Lexi Genthner, four; Hannah Marks, three; Delany Overlock, two; and Emmy Ells, one.

For Troy Howard, Casey Thayer, Zoe Fenton and Kaitlin Goslant each had two points apiece.

Also at Waldoboro, the Medomak Middle School seventh graders outlasted visiting Troy Howard Middle School 36-30. The score was knotted 4-4 after the first quarter, while Troy Howard took a 14-12 lead at halftime. MMS then took a 25-23 edge after three quarters.

Ariel Haskins led the Riverhawks with 14 points, while Kayleigh Curtis added seven; Brianna Luce Jill van der Schaaf and McKenzie Wing, all four; Paige Mason, two; and Emylee Leary, one.

For Troy Howard, Alexis Racioppi netted nine points, while Brean Cummings added eight; Hannah Nichols, five; Mariah Sturgis, four; and Kassy McLeod and Anna Simmons, both two.
