It proved to be the larger Class A schools versus the smaller Class B schools during Saturday morning’s Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference indoor track meet, but that did not mean Belfast and Mount View student-athletes would not more than hold their own.

That the Lions and Mustangs did in the meet at Bowdoin College, which finished before some got out of bed for their morning coffee after sleeping in on the weekend. The meet began at 8 a.m.

There certainly was no sleeping for Belfast and Mount View student-athletes who performed well against topnotch opponents, many of whom represented much larger squads.

The girls team scores were: Mount Ararat of Topsham 113, Edward LIttle of Auburn 100, Belfast 72, Gardiner 50, Lincoln Academy of Newcastle 21 and Mount View 3.

The boys team scores were: Edward Little 184, Mount Ararat 85, Belfast 62, Mount View, 51, Gardiner 17 and Lincoln Academy 6.

Individually, the Waldo County student-athletes secured many top places, including six firsts: Mount View’s Seth London in the 55 and 200 meters and Belfast’s Lani Eversage in the 400 meters, Dylan Webster in the shot put, Kelsey Grass in the 400 and Hannah Hill in the triple jump.
