Eva M. Thomas, 91, died Jan. 11, 2011, at a local nursing home. She was born in China, Maine, April 24, 1919, the daughter of Elmer and Inez (McKenney) Thurston. She and her husband, Leroy, owned and operated the Apple Squeeze in Searsmont for years. She ran a barn sale on Route 3 and loved to go to barn sales. She was a member and past-matron of the Rosewood Chapter OES and a deputy sheriff with Waldo County Sheriff’s Department. She loved her family.

Eva was predeceased in 1987 by her husband Leroy; and also brother Vinal Thurston. She is survived by her son Leroy Thomas and his wife Beverly of Morrill; two grandsons; seven great-grandchildren.
