Harbor House tourney gears up for 19th year

The Harbor House Community Service Center is heating up for the 19th annual Great Harbor House Shoot-Out. Athletes, coaches and thousands of fans are expected to descend on Mount Desert Island for the double-elimination basketball tournaments in March.

This year, the tournament will be held March 18-20 in gymnasiums around Mount Desert Island and Ellsworth. There will be four divisions, including seventh- through eighth-grade boys and girls and ninth- through 11th-grade boys and girls.

In 2010, the event hosted 78 teams.

The tournament fee is $225.

In addition, Harbor House also seeks volunteers to help with the weekend’s events.
