The Belfast indoor track team came out strong Saturday in rare competition at the University of Maine. Against seven opponents, the Lions placed third in the boys and girls events.

Lion Hannah Hill finished first in the triple jump and second in the 200 meters. Lani Eversage won the 55 meters and placed second in the 400 meters.

The girls team scores were: Orono 154, Hampden Academy 91, Belfast 62, Bucksport 46, Mount Desert Island 26, Ellsworth 22, Mattanawcook Academy of Lincoln 4 and Foxcroft Academy of Dover-Foxcroft 4.

The boys team scores were: Hampden Academy 161, Old Town 137, Belfast 42. Mattanawcook Academy 42, Mount Desert Island 9, Foxcroft Academy 8, Bucksport 4 and Ellsworth 4.

The Lions mostly compete in meets at Bowdoin College in Brunswick and Colby College in Waterville.
