Ruby M. Milligan Hills, 92, of Belfast, passed away Jan. 25, 2011, at Maine Veterans Home in Augusta.

She was born in Berlin, N.H., Dec. 19, 1918, daughter of James and Frances (McKinley) Milligan. Ruby served as a nurse in the U.S. Army during World War II receiving two Bronze Stars in honor of her service. She was Belfast Public Health nurse for Waldo County for many years.

She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years Maine Hills Jr.; her oldest son Maine Hills III; and her son-in-law Capt. Galen Howes.

Survivors include her children, Capt. John Hills and fiance Carole Albee of Portland, Peter Hills of Waldo, Parker Hills of Belfast and Ellen Howes of Arundel; two grandchildren, Isaac and his wife Angela Howes, and Geneva Howes and fiance Matthew Kantor.

Family and friends are invited to call Friday, Jan. 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast, where funeral services will take place Saturday at 10 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Kate Winters officiating.
