Even though the Searsport location of Rollie’s has closed, the tradition of the longstanding business will continue at Rollie’s Bar and Grill in Belfast.

Rollie’s owner Ryan Otis said even though the Searsport location is no longer operating, the Belfast Rollie’s will continue to be a popular place for patrons to enjoy a game, local company, a drink and a meal.

While the Searsport restaurant and bar was officially closed Jan. 1, Otis said his customers will still find the lively atmosphere they’ve come to expect in the Belfast bar and grill, which has been in business since 1972. Otis referred to the restaurant and bar as “an institution” and said it will continue to be there for its patrons.

“It’s not going anywhere,” said Otis during a telephone interview Monday, Jan. 31. “Nothing’s changed; we’ve just got one location instead of two.”

Otis said the closure of the Searsport location, which opened in June 2008, was a business decision, and that he is now focusing on making the Belfast location the best it can be.

“Things will develop as needed,” Otis said. “We’ve got some things we’re looking at, and they’re not going to happen this year, but when the time is right we’ll make the right moves. We’re definitely looking forward.”
