With many schools throughout the area receiving a few unscheduled days off this week due to inclement weather, the effects have trickled all the way down to the middle school basketball courts.

The Busline League small school division playoffs were scheduled to begin Thursday, Feb. 3 with the boys preliminary playoff game, but that game will be pushed to Saturday, Feb. 5 in lieu of two regular-season contests being pushed to Thursday before the postseason can commence.

There is much on the line in Thursday’s boys contest between undefeated Thomaston Grammar School and undefeated Nobleboro, with the winner clinching the top overall seed in the playoffs and the loser nabbing the No. 2 postion. The Clippers and Lions girls teams will also square off Thursday in Thomaston in their regular-season finale.

Any other remaining regular-season contests will not be made up.

Final regular-season standings and playoff pairings will be released Friday morning, according to Great Salt Bay athletic director Jason Adickes.

Despite Thursday’s preliminary boys playoff game being pushed to Saturday, all other playoff dates will remain unchanged, barring more postponements due to inclement weather.

Additional playoff games will be Monday, Feb. 7 and Wednesday, Feb. 9, with the Busline League championships to be played Saturday, Feb. 12 at Lincoln Academy in Newcastle.
