Ruth Claire Murphy Gottshalk, 81, died Feb. 1, 2011.

She was born and raised in south New Jersey.

In 1948, she married Leonard Kepner Gottshalk, settled in South Jersey — in the same house she grew up in — and, together, they had five children.

Ruth was a registered nurse and truly enjoyed working with elderly people. In her spare time, she enjoyed genealogy, particularly related to South Jersey. She was a lifetime member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, at one time serving as a chapter Regent officer.

She was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church. Ruth was a caring and loving wife and mother who was dedicated to her family.

She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Leonard Kepner Gottshalk; along with her two brothers, Sherman and Paul.

Ruth leaves behind her children, Karl and wife Cathy, Marsha and husband David, Paula, Alison and husband Ron, and Sherry; along with nine grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held in South Jersey at the convenience of her family.

Contributions to Ruth’s memory may be made to Medical Oncology Associates Prescription Fund, 382 Pierce St., Kingston, PA 18704. Arrangements are by the Richard H. Disque Funeral Home Inc., Dallas, Pa.
