Alan J. Dickey, 42, of Swanville died unexpectedly Monday, Feb. 7, 2011. He was born on Sept. 5, 1968 in Bangor, the son of Joseph E. and Joan (Clark) Dickey.

Alan graduated in 1986 from Belfast Area High School. He was employed as a foreman at the City of Belfast Public Works Department, where he worked for the past 15 years.

He loved spending time with his family and friends, hunting and fishing, four-wheeling and restoring his 1969 Chevy pickup with his sons. He also enjoyed working with his Dad on the farm.

Alan is survived by his loving wife Rebecca (Gray) Dickey; his three sons, Joshua Beal, AJ Dickey and Austin Dickey; his mother, Joan C. Dickey of Swanville; two sisters, Janice Dickey of Swanville and Elizabeth and Keenan Doubleday of Ellicott City, Md.; his father-in-law, Horace Gray of Swanville; his mother-in-law, Theresa Gray of Meriden, Conn.; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Roxanne and Willie Robles, Roy and Melissa Gray and Robert Gray; nieces and nephews, Kyle, Zachary, Amber, Caity, Cameron, Olivia, Julie, Jeremy, RJ, Anthony and Torie.

He was predeceased by his father, Joseph E. Dickey, on Feb. 19, 2010.

Family and friends will gather for visitation from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 10, at the Swanville Community Church, Route 131 in Swanville, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 11, with Pastor Rick Lambert officiating. Interment will be in the spring. Arrangements are under the direction of Young Funeral Home, 31 West Main St., Searsport.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to an educational fund for the children at Camden National Bank.
