Jon M. Linscott, 62, died Feb. 7, 2011, at Penobscot Bay Medical Center in Rockport, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Rockland March 29, 1948, he was the son of Maynard R. and Viletta M. Chadwick Linscott. He attended local schools and was a 1966 graduate of Rockland District High School. He later completed truck driving school in Houston.

Jon resided several years in Missouri where he worked as a long-haul, coast-to-coast driver with Tri-State Motor Transit, headquartered in Joplin, Mo.

An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and visiting Tomhegan Wilderness Camps at Moosehead Lake.

He was a member of the Thomaston Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Rockport.

He was predeceased by his mother in 1999.

Jon is survived by his father, Maynard R. and his wife, Mary L., of Thomaston; two daughters, Jan M. Linscott of Thomaston and Jamie M. Thomas and her husband Craig of Lincolnville; two brothers, Ronald H. Linscott and his wife Dianne of Rockland and Kenneth H. Linscott of Waterville; three sisters, Linda F. Grard and her husband, Gary, of Vassalboro, Letty F. Linscott of Rockland and Betsy B. Keating of Owls Head; six grandchildren, Jason, Michelle, Ryan, Matthew, April and Jessica; two great-grandchildren, Anthony and Kaylee; one aunt; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be Saturday, Feb. 12, at 2 p.m. at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 335 Rockville St. in Rockport.

Cremation arrangements are in the care of the Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St. in Rockland.
