A 10-year-old girl was examined at a local hospital Sunday, Feb. 13, for a wrist injury sustained in a single-vehicle accident on Route 1A.

The crash occurred at about 4 p.m., while 58-year-old Joyce Dyer of Belfast was traveling along Route 1A in Frankfort. According to the report at Waldo County Sheriff’s Office, the rear axle of Dyer’s vehicle broke, causing the vehicle to hit a snow bank and roll over onto its roof.

Winterport Volunteer Ambulance responded to the scene to check on Dyer and her passengers, 29-year-old Timothy Dyer and two girls, ages 7 and 10. Chief Deputy Bob Keating said the officer who responded to the accident, Deputy Dan Thompson, took the 10-year-old girl to Waldo County General Hospital to be treated for a wrist injury. Neither the seven-year-old, Joyce Dyer nor Timothy Dyer were hurt in the accident.

Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $2,000.
