Elsie U. McDonald, 93, died as the result of an automobile accident, Monday, Feb. 14, 2011, in Albion.

She was born in Rockport, Nov. 3, 1917, the daughter of Ambrose and Eliza (Carey) Upham.

She was a homemaker and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She enjoyed knitting, gardening, canning and quilting.

She held the distinction of the oldest resident in Freedom. She was presented with a plaque recognizing her as the holder of the town’s Boston Post Cane.

She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years Danniel McDonald; also two daughters, Dorothy Palmer and Judy Turner.

Survivors include two children, Eliza and Bill Linnell of Benton and Edward and Donna McDonald of Union; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.

Celebration of life services will be held at the Freedom Church, Saturday, Feb. 19, from 2 to 4 p.m. Spring interment will be at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Freedom.
